SecureSafe Pass: Known Limitations in the Browser Extensions

This article outlines the current known limitations, feature gaps, and constraints in the latest Browser Extension versions of our product. Review these details to understand what is supported today.

No Biometric Login

Known Issue

The browser extension does not support biometric authentication methods (e.g. fingerprint, face recognition). Users must log in using their master password.

Impact

  • Increases login friction, particularly for users accustomed to biometric flows in mobile apps

  • May reduce perceived convenience, especially for frequent logins

  • No direct impact on autofill functionality

No Safe-specific Filtering (Search Only)

Known Issue

Password search within the browser extension is global across all safes. Filtering by a specific safe is not available.

Impact

  • Reduces efficiency for users managing multiple safes

  • Can lead to longer search times and potential selection errors

  • Impacts enterprise users with large credential inventories

Extension-specific Settings Not Persistent Across Devices

Known Issue

Settings configured within the browser extension are stored locally and are not synced between devices.

Impact

  • Inconsistent user experience across multiple workstations or browsers

  • Increases setup time for users operating on more than one device

  • Limits adoption of customized extension behavior in enterprise environments

No Offline Read Access

Known Issue

The browser extension requires an active internet connection to retrieve and display passwords.

Impact

  • Prevents access to credentials in low-connectivity or offline environments

  • Reduces reliability for field workers or users in restricted network conditions

  • Could limit usage in high-security corporate environments with intermittent access

“Trust This Device” Not Available in Version 1

Known Issue

The extension does not include a “trust this device” option to reduce repeated authentication prompts.

Impact

  • More frequent login requests for returning users

  • Higher friction in daily workflows, particularly for business users logging in multiple times per day

  • May reduce satisfaction compared to legacy extension where this feature was available
