Learn how to configure login and password settings in SecureSafe for enhanced security. Set up two-factor authentication (2FA) and change your password easily.

This article will guide you through any configuration steps regarding your SecureSafe login information. You will find information on:

Setting up 2-Factor Authentication (2FA)

SecureSafe offers 2-factor authentication (2FA) to ensure additional security for your SecureSafe account. This is optional, but it is something that we strongly recommend. While there are various forms of 2FA, the one used for SecureSafe accounts is Mobile Transactions Authentication Number (mTAN). Using this method, you as a user first enter your username and password, before a one-time number is sent by text message to your mobile phone. This one-time number must be typed into the relevant field during login authentication, which provides a second layer of security to authorise account access.

To activate or deactivate 2-factor authentication (2FA) for your SecureSafe account, perform the following steps:

  1. On the menu bar at the top of the SecureSafe web application, click the dropdown icon beside your account user name.
  2. From the drop-down menu displayed, click Settings to display the SecureSafe settings window.
  3. Ensure that your mobile number is added to the Contact tab in Settings. For detailed instructions on how to do this, please refer to the article on Contact Settings.
  4. From the tabs displayed on the left of the Settings window, select Login and password.

  5. Change the default button selection from Username and password to Secure login with username, password and SMS (mTAN).

In SecureSafe under Login Settings you can add Two-Factor Authentification (2FA) for more security.
  6. Click Save and close.

This selection can be reversed in the future if needed, but we recommend that you keep 2FA activated.
