Setting Up Folder Synchronization in the SecureSafe Desktop App

The SecureSafe desktop app allows you to configure folders that are saved locally and synchronized with your SecureSafe. The steps outlined below guide you through the configuration process.

How can I add or remove a folder for synchronization? 

In the Synchronized Folder tab, you can add or remove folders that are synchronized with your desktop app using the plus or minus button.

Please note: If you no longer wish to synchronize a folder, it must first be removed in the app using the minus button before deleting it on your computer. Otherwise, the data will also be deleted from your SecureSafe desktop app.


You can setup an additional synchronized folder as follows:

  1. Select File Safe from the sidebar menu on the left.

    Select File Safe from the sidebar menu on the left to start setting up a synchronized folder.
  2. Next, click on the + button in the bottom third of the window.

  3. In the window that opens, you will find an overview of all safes that you have access to (by default, this includes your Private Safe and the Mail-In Safe).

  4. Choose the safe that you want to add as a synchronized folder. Confirm your selection by clicking Next and choose the desired location on your device.

  5. Confirm by clicking Next, do not remove the checkmark in the next step, confirm again by clicking Next, and save the folder.

  6. Open the newly added folder and synchronize its contents by clicking the Sync button.

  7. Repeat steps 1-6 for each folder you want to add.

If you wish to remove a folder for synchronization, you can do so as follows:

  1. Select the folder that you wish to remove by clicking on it.
  2. Next, click on the Recycle bin icon in the bottom third of the window.
  3. Confirm your selection by clicking Continue in the window that is then displayed.

Please note: The content of the folder will not be deleted as a consequence of this. The selected folder will simply not be synchronized anymore.

In the Activity tab, you can see all changes that have been made in synchronized folders. In the list that is displayed, you can directly access the files by double-clicking on them

Local encryption protects the data on your computer from unauthorized access in the event of loss or theft. This means that the data remains encrypted even if the hard disk is removed and connected to another device.

Configure synchronized folders

The SecureSafe desktop application allows you to select which folders you want to synchronize and where they should be stored locally. If you toggle off Automatic Synchronization, the folder will not be synchronized to your computer unless you manually synchronize the folder by clicking Sync or Sync All. You can change the set up of your synchronized folder at any time in the Synchronized folders tab.
