SecureSafe Next for Android - App crashes on login after install or update
Article type: Known Issue / Workaround
Status: Workaround available · Fix in progress
Platform: Android mobile app
Last updated: 21.04.2026
What's happening
After installing SecureSafe for the first time, or after updating to a newer version, the Android app may crash when you try to log in.
We have identified the issue and are working on a fix. In the meantime, the workaround below restores normal login behavior.
If the workaround does not resolve the crash, please contact SecureSafe Support.
Before you start - please read
The workaround requires clearing the SecureSafe app's local data on your device. This is safe for your stored content (your data remains securely available in SecureSafe after you log back in), but it will reset app-level settings on this device.
After applying the workaround, you will need to:
- Log in again with your SecureSafe credentials
- Re-enable biometric login (fingerprint / face unlock), if you were using it
- Re-enable the autofill option, if you were using it
- Reconfigure any other device-specific app preferences
Make sure you know your SecureSafe login credentials before proceeding.
Workaround - clear the SecureSafe app data
The steps below describe the general path.
- Open your device Settings.
- Go to Apps (or App Settings / Application Manager).
- Find and select SecureSafe in the list of installed apps.
- Open App info (sometimes shown automatically).
- Select Storage (or Storage & cache).
- Tap Clear data (or Clear storage).
- Confirm the action if prompted.
- Reopen SecureSafe and log in with your credentials.
- Re-enable biometric login and autofill in the app settings, if applicable.
After these steps, login should complete normally and the app should no longer crash.
If the problem continues
If SecureSafe still crashes after clearing app data, please contact SecureSafe Support and include:
- Your device model and Android version
- The SecureSafe app version installed
- Whether the crash happens immediately on opening the app, or at a specific step during login
What we're doing
Our team is actively investigating the underlying cause and preparing a permanent fix, which will be delivered through a standard app update. This article will be updated once the fix is released.
